Berryd
Opals does it again ...
SA
Great Awards Night
 Trevor
and Rosemarie Berry of Berryd Opals, an Internet site that sells and auctions
opal have won themselves a SA Great award. Nominated by Northern Regional
Development Board, Berryd Opals won the business category for the Flinders
and Outback SA Great award. They were presented with the hand blown glass
pear award on Monday 18 November at the awards night held in Whyalla.
Trevor and Rose attended the awards night not expecting to win anything,
but again they were surprised when their businesses name was called out
as the winner.
Berryd Opals
won the award against another 400 entries, only 16 winners were chosen
out of these.
The categories for the awards ranged from health, community, the arts,
sport, science and environment, tourism, youth and business. Trevor was
asked to make a speech at the presentation night he spoke about Rose in
his words, "She who I always obey." The crowd had a good chuckle
with this comment.
Berryd Opals
has been going for almost two years, during which time they have sold
loads of dollars worth of opal. This website is not just a profit-making
tool for Trevor but it provides the miners of Coober Pedy to have a choice
of how they sell their opal, whom too and how much for.
"I think we probably got the award from the uniqueness of the business
as well as really putting the idea of using the Internet to sell in the
market place." Trevor said.
Congratulations to Trevor and Rosemarie on their SA Great award. You can
